Since before the raids on The @gidimten_checkpoint and Unist’ot’en Camp on January 7, 2019, the Likhts’amisyu have being dealing with the ailing health and eventual passing of our chief (Misid’iy) Janie Naziel. Although our grieving is still underway we are engaging in an act of Unity between our Clan and those who bravely endured the violence perpetrated by the Province and Federal governments. Our Yintah re-occupations are a necessary cultural-political statement needed to help our own people as well as the colonial populous understand that these lands are still unceded and under our control. Our adjudication process is tied directly to our hereditary system and was used in the landmark 1997 Delgamuukw v Queen Supreme Court of Canada case.
